Wayne Howell From:[email protected] To:Bert Stuart Thu, 25 Jan at 22:50 Dear Ladies & Gentlemen, I am grateful for this opportunity to be invited and elected to be the Chair of the British & Caribbean Veterans Association (BCVA). My predecessor, the late Fred Coke, had done a fantastic job in the role and I look forward to the challenge of following in his giant footsteps. A brief summary of my military career: I joined the Royal Air Force Regiment as an airman in 1973 and progressed through the ranks to the position of Warrant Officer. In 2000, I attended 6 months training at RAF College Cranwell, before graduating as a RAF Officer. In 2005, I served 6 months in Sierra Leone, West Africa, with the United Nations in the rank of Squadron Leader. I departed the regular RAF in 2015, before serving a further 6 years as a Full-Time Reservist, leading to my eventual retirement in 2021.
I have attended BCVA functions since 2012, and been the official Guest Speaker twice (2014 & 2018) at the Annual Dinner. I also attended activities representing the BCVA in recent years, so I am not new to the organisation. In the past I have organised many military and civilian social and Charity fund-raising events, so I am looking forward to new challenges at this year’s Annual Dinner on 29th June at the new venue of Edgbaston Park Hotel.
My primary aim over the next couple of years is to recruit new members of the BCVA, mainly ex-serving. It is noticeable that the numbers are dwindling.
Please talk to me with your ideas and don’t be shy.
Best wishes
Wayne Howell
