The Advocacy People
Supporting veterans and direct family members, who face health, housing, financial and social problems by providing confidential practical support to get their voice heard. We are aware that some veterans struggle to access services and support needed to maintain civilian life. Experienced staff offer tailored one-to-one support which seeks to: improve access to and experiences of mainstream services; maximise income; have needs and views respected; ensure rights under the Armed Forces Covenant are understood; improve mental health through increased confidence.

Amicus Trust

The Armed Forces Outreach Service, (AFOS)
The Armed Forces Outreach Service is a local authority partnership covering County Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, South Tyneside and Northumberland. Our outreach team are based in council and housing offices and help members of the Armed Forces Community gain access to housing, welfare, debt advice, employment and other support. Our team have specialist knowledge and service access to help with housing matters in particular and we work with all major forces charities, organisations and the NHS.

The Armed Forces & Veterans' Breakfast Clubs, (AFVBCs)
The Armed Forces & Veterans' Breakfast Clubs, (AFVBCs) are completely free to join and enable veterans (and those in active service) to meet face to face in a relaxed, safe, social environment. Association of ex-Service Drop-In Centres (ASDIC)
The Association of ex-Service Drop-In Centres (ASDIC) links veterans’ Drop-Ins across the country. The Drop-Ins offer a warm welcome to veterans and their families in a social setting, with a variety of specialist welfare and mental health support available.
ASDIC helps the Drop-Ins work cooperatively, enhancing their offering and making them more accessible. Each Drop-In conforms to a common ethos and code of conduct. ASDIC also helps organisations supporting Drop-Ins (eg Citizens’ Advice, SSAFA, TRBL) to deliver their services more effectively. The British Nuclear Test Veterans Association
The British Nuclear Test Veterans Association (BNTVA) exists for recognition and restitution of our servicemen who participated in the British Nuclear Tests. We provide: bereavement support with standard bearers and funeral drapes at funerals; a closed Facebook discussion group for descendants; a reunion in Weston Super Mare (every September) for over 100 veterans and their families; assistance with War Pension applications; a quarterly magazine for members; campaigning for a medal for our veterans for their unique service.

The British Training Board (CIC)
The British Training Board (TBTB) provides career development support to our Armed Forces community and their families across the UK. Our services focus on the translation of military skills, experience and training into accredited qualifications that are recognised by our supporting employers. BuildForce
BuildForce supports service leavers, veterans, reservists and spouses to transition into professional careers in the construction industry. Building Heroes
Building Heroes offers Veterans and Service leavers the opportunity to retrain for a career in construction at their regional delivery centres. They provide a five week foundation course in Property Maintenance, plus the support required to help you into employment, self-employment, or further training. Some courses are linked to specific employers, providing a guaranteed job on graduation, while others offer the freedom to choose your own career path. Castlehill Foundation
The Castlehill Foundation provides activities and services to victims and survivors affected by The Troubles such as, counselling, complementary therapies, social support, respite, carers support, befriending and welfare and benefits advice. Centre for Veterans' Health
The Centre for Veterans Health at King Edward VII's Hospital helps veterans through specialist treatment tailored to their needs. The Centre offers means tested grants to help with up to 100% of the costs associated with procedures, a further 20% discount given automatically to military personnel, veterans, their spouses or widows. The Centre also delivers a dedicated Pain Management Programme for veterans.

The Defence Gardens Scheme
The Defence Gardens Scheme offers a 10 week nature based therapy programme. This is a combination of practical gardening skills and supported self help for managing anxiety, depression, and stress. Support is provided for progression from the programme to a range of training, volunteering as well as full and part time employment.

Ely Centre
The Ely Centre was established after the Enniskillen Poppy Day Bombing on 08 Nov 17, to provide support to personnel injured in this incident and has widened its service to include support to veterans, police and civilians injured as a result of the troubles in NI. We offer, mental health support, health and wellbeing support, counselling, alternative therapies, respite trips financial advice and assistance with benefits and war disability pensions or AFCS claims.

Felix Fund
Felix Fund provides welfare support and financial assistance to serving, ex-Service and SO15 (Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Unit) personnel who have conducted or assisted with Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and search duties. This includes all aspects of bomb disposal and search work from the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force. Support ranges from financial grants for those in need to wellness breaks and training programmes to help manage trauma and stress.

Finchale
Services at Finchale include accommodation and housing; offering a bespoke service towards sourcing sustainable accommodation; employability and training; CV building, job applications, interview and confidence techniques. The Footprint Trust
Help with energy use in the home on the Isle of Wight. Gives impartial, confidential help to anyone on the Isle of Wight about using heating and energy in the home, to keep warm and well and to avoid debt. Can help with practical support such as tariffs, switching, how to set heating (including night storage heaters), and access to grants such as Warm Home Discount. Can negotiate with Southern Water and energy suppliers on your behalf, if required. Also offers training to ex-Service people on these matters. Forces MoneyPlan
Forces MoneyPlan, a pro-bono initiative offering free, confidential financial guidance to all Armed Forces personnel and Veterans. All guidance is provided by fully qualified financial advisers and members of the Personal Finance Society, who have volunteered both their time and expertise. The Forces Pension Society is an independent, not-for-profit, membership funded organisation that acts as a pension watchdog for the whole military community. Annual membership gives you exclusive access to Forces Pensions Consultants. They will help you to navigate the pension maze and empower you to make informed decisions. Groundwork East
Green Aiders is a FREE one-off, garden clearance visit for elderly residents over 65 who have served in the military. The residents may also be dependants of someone who has served. If you are struggling to keep on top of your garden we can visit you for half a day with a team of volunteers and tidy your garden up to enable you to enjoy the space once more. Further to this, we are recruiting volunteers to make a number of repeat visits after the initial clearance, so that you are able to keep on top of the garden. Lord Kitchener Memorial Holiday Centre
For the last 100 years the Lord Kitchener Memorial Holiday Centre has provided holiday and respite accommodation in ten en-suite bedrooms, on a bed and breakfast or half board basis, to ex-members of the armed forces and their partners including widows/widowers. We can help with short term shelter or refuge when veterans or their immediate family need a change of scene or a carer needs a break. We also help with short-term homelessness, and when your accommodation is unfit for habitation, for instance during repairs or redecoration.

Mesothelioma UK
Mesothelioma UK is a national specialist resource centre, specifically for the asbestos-related cancer, mesothelioma. ‘Mesothelioma UK – Supporting Our Armed Forces’ service is aimed at serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans, mesothelioma patients, families and carers wanting to find out more about treatment, support, care and benefits/compensation available. The service provides a specialist mesothelioma nurse, based in Southampton and a comprehensive research programme is underway to quantify and describe the mesothelioma burden amongst the Armed Forces.

Mutual Support
The Armed Forces Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Support Group supports members of the Military family Affected by MS. They exist for Serving members of the Armed Forces, Veterans, Reserves, dependants and their carers affected by MS. Mutual Support is one of the MS Society’s National Support Groups. Run by volunteers with direct experience of MS and the Armed Forces, it provides services and activities based on what people affected by MS want. A trained team provide the support you need to deal with your situation, and aim to be at the end of the phone when needed.

Mygov Scotland
The Scottish Government is committed to making sure no member of the Armed Forces veterans community in Scotland faces any disadvantage when accessing services and support. The Scottish Government has also appointed a Scottish Veterans Commissioner whose remit is to improve outcomes for all veterans. The commissioner is independent of the government and has his own dedicated funding. Veterans in Scotland can get support for healthcare, housing, funding for education and training, employability, Armed Forces pensions, and referrals to other organisations.

National Gulf Veterans and Families Association
The NGVFA supports those affected by Gulf War 1, Gulf War 2 (Iraq), Afghanistan, and all future desert conflicts. Many returning home from these conflicts develop health or social problems. The NGVFA helps veterans (whether ill or not), Service personnel who were vaccinated but were non-deployed, Armed Forces personnel who are still serving , family members, widows and widowers, and civilians contracted to the armed forces. The Not Forgotten Association
The Not Forgotten Association provides recreational and entertainment opportunities to any serving man or woman who is wounded, injured or sick and any veteran of any age with a disability, illness or infirmity. On Course Foundation
The On Course Foundation supports the recovery of injured Service personnel and veterans through golf. The Open University
The Open University is the leading university for flexible, innovative, distance education in the United Kingdom. Uniquely placed to understand the needs of part-time students, learning while earning, our teaching credentials have seen over 2 million students receive an education, otherwise denied to them at campus-based universities. The Disabled Veterans' Scholarships Fund offers 50 disabled veterans, injured in, or due to, military service, access to free Open University education. Outside the Wire
Outside the Wire is a bespoke alcohol, drug and PTSD service, offering confidential advice and support to current and ex HM Forces personnel and their families across Norfolk, Suffolk & Essex.
All our staff are ex-forces, and can offer innovative, comprehensive support, including confidential meetings at a location of your choice. We are sensitive to the complexities of military life and the often understandable resistance to admitting the extent of personal issues, especially those relating to PTSD, substance misuse and general mental health plus concerns around personal relationships.

Prison Advice and Care Trust (Pact)
The HMPPS-funded Prisoners' Families Helpline, run by the Prison Advice and Care Trust (Pact), provides practical and emotional support, information and advice to anyone who is affected by imprisonment in the UK, in a straightforward, non-judgemental way. Our trained operators are available Monday to Friday from 9am-8pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am-3pm and can also be contacted by email, webmail or post.
Pact's services are embedded at all stages of the Criminal Justice journey, including 67 prisons and in the community and we work with a wide range of support agencies to offer holistic support.

Phoenix Heroes CIC is a non-profit Community Interest Company providing PTSD support to  veterans and their families. One of the ways that they achieve this is by building veteran communities around the UK through sporting activities and community family days. They also offer employment networking and PTSD therapy support from their qualified therapists who have military experience. They are based in Colchester, Essex and offer services nationwide. Their Carp Angling Club has hundreds of members and it holds fishing events on a monthly basis around the UK.

Plane Saver Credit Union
Plane Saver Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative, offering an ethical range of savings and loans for Armed Forces personnel straight from their pay (or MoD pension for Veterans). RAF Families Federation
The RAF Families Federation acts as an independent voice for serving personnel and their families with any issues or concerns they may experience throughout their career in the RAF. This could include policy issues, health, education or employment challenges and all are dealt with confidentially. We also help individuals transition out of the RAF and families too. All evidence we gather is formalised, and any key themes are pulled out and raised in order to influence policy change at a government level.

Rapport Housing and Care
Lawson House is Rapport Housing & Care's new extra care housing scheme in Larkfield, Kent. The scheme comprises 74 one and two bedroom apartments alongside excellent communal facilities. The scheme is for over 55s who could benefit from a little support to remain independent. Twenty of the apartments are reserved for veterans.

Recovery College
We offer a wide range of courses, workshops and activities to support people as they discover and develop their skills and interests on their journey through recovery. All our facilitators are dedicated to recovery and wellbeing and have a range of personal and/or professional experience in adult education, mental health recovery and dual diagnosis.

Rowans Hospice
A dedicated nurse will assess veterans’ needs and develop a bespoke plan to support them and their family. This involves arranging access to the Living Well Centre/Rowans Hospice facilities like exercise groups, complimentary therapies, carers support group, reminiscence group, bereavement support, future planning, psychology support, crafts or just a listening ear. Home visits are offered plus links to the veterans’ volunteer companions service. This part of the service is a dedicated group of volunteers who are veterans themselves , currently serving personnel or have experience of the Armed Forces.

Service Dogs UK
Service Dogs UK provide and train PTSD Assistance Dogs, selected from rescue, for veterans of the Armed Forces and Emergency Services with a clinical diagnosis of PTSD. They help with regaining independence, renewing a sense of purpose, building confidence, encouraging calmness and other different ways of coping with PTSD. Soldier's Arts Academy
The Soldier's Arts Academy provides a platform through which veteran and serving military personnel, and their families, can participate in the creative and performing arts.  We are currently running weekly online workshops in theatre, art, singing, guitar, magic, poetry and photography for all levels of experience. UK Veterans Hearing Foundation 
The UK Veterans Hearing Foundation helps veterans with hearing issues generated by military Service. They utilise independent reputable audiologists throughout the UK to provide individual assistance to each veteran. And they provide top of the range hearing devices at no cost, with a dedicated aftercare service for veterans. As well as fitting top of the range hearing technology they support the associated conditions of tinnitus and mental health issues, through their partners. This helps to reduce the anxiety, depression and social avoidance that veterans often experience as a result of hearing loss.

Veterans First Point
Veterans First Point helps veterans "whatever their needs may be". We meet clinical needs and also provide wider support and advice. We provide peer support worker-led caseload management of welfare issues including housing, finance, employment, independent living and families. Our clinicians also provide mental health assessment and treatments, via psychiatrists and psychologists. Veterans can self refer via drop- ins, phone and email. We also accept referrals through GPs and other agencies and provide in-house clinics from Citizen's Advice Bureau, Veterans UK and the Armed Services Advice Project.

Veterans HQ
Veterans HQ is a free and accessible one stop centre of support for ex-Armed Forces personnel, reservists and their families. The centre is run by a team of friendly staff who can provide information, advice and support on many areas relevant to the Armed Forces community such as welfare and benefits, housing, health and wellbeing, and employability. Drop-in sessions are available to those who need help with job applications and there is also a Custody Co-ordinator on-site for those who are in, or about to leave the criminal justice system.
